It takes time and perseverance to gain a regular following, and in turn, make camming your sole source of income.
Being a Cam Model: Know Your Worth
Knowing your worth in this industry is key. Although loving your job is important, we work to pay for our lifestyle. Working for next to nothing won’t be a wise investment in your time. Do your research on what to charge for your time and services. We can also help you with this at OTR.
You should work out a minute-by-minute rate, hourly rate and private session request rate too. This way you have all bases covered. On the days you’re busy, you’re reaping the benefits and on the days you’re quieter, you’re still making an income! This also limits your contact with flaky clients wasting your time.
Be Flexible but Accountable
As a self-starter it’s imperative that you hold yourself accountable for the time you spend online. In order to manage your time day to day, a weekly schedule is essential. This gives you a clear overview of your working week, but also allows you to schedule in time for yourself. Make time for content creation too – this should go under working hours. Although you’re not physically camming, part of being a cam model is offering content across your social media platforms. Shooting the right content is important to grow your brand and garner your credibility with a regular following.
Additionally, be sure to experiment with different camming times, to see when your busy periods typically are, or could be. This will ensure that you are utilising the times you work wisely and are able to earn the most money. It’s a great way of knowing when your later sessions could be, so you’re able to catch up on sleep the next day, for example.
A schedule will ensure that you stay accountable for the hours you work and the money you wish to earn. It’s professional to show your clients and keeps you focused on the day ahead!
Achievable Goals
As simple as it sounds, a bullet pointed list is actually one of the most efficient ways to get your tasks done. It helps you to break up your big goals into smaller parts, so that they can be achieved easily! Knowing the tasks you have to get done ahead of time will always help to block procrastination.
Be sure to list down the most important tasks you have to get done today. However, don’t let your list get too long because this will make you feel overwhelmed. Crossing off items will help you feel accomplished. So, if you’re feeling like you have too much to do and so little time, this will help to get the productivity ball rolling. Similarly, if you’re finding that you’re out of tasks, you can brainstorm things that will be needed in the near future for work or in your personal life. Whatever you’re making your list for, you should:
- Give your list a time limit
- A daily list should be redone every day
- Weekly lists can include multi-day tasks or short-term goals
- Don’t feel discouraged when you need to roll tasks over to the next list.
